Trauma-informed separation support online

Conscious Uncoupling

A separation can be many things at once: painful, relieving and perhaps still full of love. I support individuals and couples who want to meet this transition with greater clarity, honesty and compassion.

Conscious uncoupling and separation coaching
Conscious uncoupling may be helpful if

You want to meet the ending more consciously.

You are unsure whether to stay or separate
You want to end the relationship respectfully
Conflict is making the ending more difficult
You are struggling with grief, guilt, anger or fear
You want clarity about what comes next
Separating with care

Ending consciously does not mean ending without pain.

It means trying to meet what is happening with greater honesty, responsibility and compassion. Sometimes the decision to separate is already clear. Sometimes clarity emerges gradually.

We may explore what is true for each person, what still needs to be expressed or acknowledged, where clearer boundaries are needed and what kind of contact — if any — feels right afterwards.

I do not guide you towards staying together or separating. We orient towards what feels true and appropriate for you and for the relationship.

Individual or together

There is more than one way to move through a separation.

Conscious uncoupling support can take place with one person or with both partners. The right format depends on your situation and what you want the process to support.

01

Individual support

For when you want clarity on your own, or when the other person does not want to participate.

  • Process the separation
  • Understand emotions and relational patterns
  • Clarify needs, boundaries and direction
02

Joint support

For when both of you participate voluntarily and want to shape the transition together.

  • Have difficult conversations with more care
  • Acknowledge the relationship you have shared
  • Create agreements for what comes next
What may become possible

More space around a difficult transition.

Conscious uncoupling cannot guarantee an amicable separation or a particular outcome. It can create more room for awareness, responsibility and choice.

Understand and hold difficult emotions more fully

Recognise recurring relational patterns

Express needs and boundaries more clearly

Take responsibility without taking responsibility for everything

Reconnect with your own life and future

How the process works

A simple orientation.

The process is responsive rather than rigid, but these three steps give you a sense of what to expect.

We meet for 20 minutes, explore what brings you here and see whether individual or joint support feels appropriate.

02

Your intention

We clarify what you want the process to support: greater clarity, an important conversation, emotional processing or a more conscious ending.

03

Explore what is present

We pay attention to emotions, thoughts, bodily reactions and the patterns that shape contact, conflict, closeness and distance.

NARM® & trauma-informed coaching

When separation activates more than the present moment.

A breakup can touch experiences of abandonment, rejection, shame or loss of control. In these moments, people sometimes react in ways they barely recognise in themselves.

A trauma-informed perspective can help make sense of these reactions without reducing you to them, and create more room for choice in how you want to respond now.

Why this work matters to me

I experienced that love and separation can exist at the same time.

My former partner and I were together for almost ten years. The ending of that relationship taught me that connection does not necessarily disappear when a relationship changes form.

That experience shaped how I think about separation today. My intention is not to lead you towards a particular decision, but to support you in listening more honestly to what feels true for you and for your relationship.

FAQs

Questions about conscious uncoupling.

Do we need to be certain that we want to separate?

No. You can also come when the question of staying or separating is still open. I will not make the decision for you. We explore what feels true for each of you and what you need in order to gain greater clarity.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Conscious uncoupling can also be an individual process. If the other person does not want to participate, we focus on your experience, your patterns, your boundaries and what you need for your own path forward.

Does conscious uncoupling mean we should remain friends?

No. A conscious ending does not require ongoing closeness. Sometimes a new form of connection becomes possible; sometimes greater distance or a clear ending is more appropriate.

Can this help me process a breakup that has already happened?

Yes. The work can support you in understanding emotions and relational patterns, reconnecting with your needs and gradually finding more orientation in the life that is emerging after the relationship.

How many sessions will we need?

That depends on your situation and intention. Some people use a single session, while others choose three or six. We can discuss what may fit during the free clarity call.

How much do sessions cost?

I work with an income-based sliding scale. You can find the current prices for individual and joint sessions on the fees page.
